Arrogance or Acceptance

Recognizing what you have built is not arrogance. It is acceptance.

For top performers, executives and leaders, the thing we're always looking at is improvement. Improvement of our sleep, our efficiency, our output, our time. Constantly looking to sharpen our edge.

But that can come with a price.

I know because I've lived it. Years of picking apart what I could do better, how I could get more out of myself, others and my organizations.

With a focus on the future, too seldom do we turn around to look back. Too seldom do we give ourselves praise, recount our accomplishments, or relive our achievements. Research even supports that doing so can improve motivation and the very results we are pushing for.

Perhaps at some point we were taught that to do so is arrogance. But it's not.

It's acceptance.

This week, look back. Recognize what you have done. Dwell in your achievements. And accept who you are.
