Abundance

My greatest asset was never something I needed to find.

To be in a state of abundance, I have to be abundance. It is not something given to me. It is something I am. The opposite of abundance is lack, and if I carry a feeling of lacking on the inside, I will always be one step separated from the very thing I am chasing.

For the longest time I thought that to be wealthy I needed something. An idea. A product. The right partner. The next asset. I went looking for all of it, and I came up short again and again. It was only after all that searching that I returned to where I had made it the first time. Myself.

I did not need another asset besides the ones I already held. My greatest asset was me. It always had been.

Finding your purpose and your way is rarely a single moment. It is like watching the final shot that wins a championship. That shot looks like the whole story, but it is only a snapshot of the years of work, the failures, the repetition, and the time that made it possible.

For me there was never one moment where everything changed. There were times I was sure I had arrived. One therapist. One meditation. One breakthrough. But looking back, even the moments that felt like arrival were only the alignment of every second of effort I had already put in.

Nothing was ever added. I did not become someone new. I returned to what was already there, and I stopped looking outside for what I had been carrying the whole time.
